Brian French
 
Founder and co-owner of SurvivalOutpost.com, Brian is a veteran of the United States Army. During his service he received extensive training on first-aid, weapons, survival techniques, and chemical/biological warfare. Following his military service, Brian earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from a prominent Texas university. Following college, Brian worked in the insurance industry for over six years where he helped develop database systems to track risks and losses associated with natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes. This technical experience led Brian to an IT position with a Fortune 25 technology company where he has worked for over 11 years. Kevin Baum
 
Kevin is a 22-year veteran of the fire service and the former Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Marshal with the Austin, Texas Fire Department. During his tenure as a professional firefighter, Kevin served as the Chief Plans Officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Texas Task Force One Urban Search & Rescue Team. Kevin is a Master Rescue Technician, and served as the department’s Technical Rescue Team Captain for all special rescues including high-angle, caves, confined space, and wilderness rescues. Kevin is an avid outdoorsman, survivalist and mountaineer, and has climbed many of the classic alpine routes on glaciated peaks throughout the northern hemisphere. Kevin is widely recognized around the country for his innovations in fire and emergency prevention, and is the creator of an international campaign that is designed to educate both families and business on the importance of early detection and emergency prevention (Firepreventioncampaigns.org). Kevin has published extensively on a variety of subjects including Risk Analysis, Natural Hazards, Emergency Prevention, Organizational Performance, and Leadership, and is the author of Lessons From The Line, a highly acclaimed book on personal leadership (www.incentergy.com/Order_Inside_Line.cfm).
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fire Service Administration from Western Illinois University, a Master of Public Policy from Texas State University, and has conducted post-graduate research into geospatial hazards. Kevin’s doctoral research was a FEMA-funded study which explored wildfire danger in the Urban-Wildland Interface, and his model of risk is being used across the world to evaluate wildfire danger to communities. Warren Kindred

An avid outdoor enthusiast from youth, Warren has extensive training in weapons and safety, as well as first-aid, including a Red Cross CPR certification. Warren is a certified FEMA inspector with PARR and Parsonsbrikerhauf. He currently owns a construction company and has many years of experience in commercial construction, building codes, and post-disaster reconstruction. Warren is also an experienced scuba diver with multiple certifications from NAUI, PADI, and SSI, including rescue and recovery. |
